Instant khichadi

Ingredients

Rice – ¼ cup

Moong dal – ¼ cup

Cumin seeds ¼ teaspoon

Salt to taste

Turmeric powder a pinch

Recipe- In a vessel wash rice and Moong dal together. Add 1 cup water. Add all other ingredients. Pressure cook .

Tip – For early months, when it is cooked smear it with spoon or make a paste. Add little more water. Make uniform paste. Boil it and then give.

Rajgira Ukad

Rajgira Ukad

This is available in puff form and also in flour form. Bedekar food provides the flour. If you get the puffs roast for few minutes and then grind them in the grinder. One can start this at the age of 6 months.

Ingredients – ½ cup rajgira flour

2 teaspoon of rice flour

1 cup butter milk

1 tea spoon desi ghee

Few cumin seeds

Very little turmeric powder

Very little asafetida

Garlic cloves – 2

Salt to taste

Recipe- 1> Mix rajgira flour, rice flour, Add little butter milk. Remove all lumps. Add remaining buttermilk.

2> Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds. When they sputter add asafetida, turmeric powder, garlic cloves. Fry cloves for 1 minute.

3> Add the rajgira mix to this. Stir continuously. When thickens, cover it with a lid for 3-4 mins.

4> Add salt to taste.

Tip – Do not give garlic while serving for small babies. Ideal for kids who do not like sweet food. Also good after fever, when there is no taste to the tongue.

Carrot kheer

Carrot kheer-

Ingredients-

2 carrots boiled , pulped.

1 cup milk

Sugar as per the taste

Cardamom

Recipe-

1> Heat ghee in a pan.

2> Take two teaspoon of pulped carrot. Add it to the ghee. Stir for few seconds.

3> Add the milk, sugar, cardamom.

Poppy Seeds kheer

Poppy Seeds kheer

Poppy Seeds are rich in calcium. Can be given after 8-9 months,

Ingrediants-

Poppy seeed- 100 gm

Milk to soak poppy seeds.

1 cup milk.

Sugar

Cardamom – a pinch

Recipe-

1> Fry the poppy seeds on a 3-4 minutes in a pan.

2> Soak them in milk previously boiled for 2-3 hours.

3> Grind the above till fine paste is formed. It may take some time.

4> Store this in airtight container in a deep fridge.

5> Use the above paste as required. Then immediately keep the container in the deep fridge.

6> Take 2 teaspoon of above paste. Add 1 cup milk Bring this to boil. Add sugar and cardamom.

Tip- Poppy seeds are good if taken in summer season. So avoid taking them in cold season.

One variation- Nagali satwa which is available in market can also be added. For this first take 1 teaspoon of the satwa mix little milk. Remove all lumps. Then add remaining milk and poppy seed’s grinded paste.

Wheat Four Kheer

Ingredients

Wheat Flour- 1cup

Desi Ghee – 6 teaspoon full.

Milk-1cup

Jaggery

Cardamom – a pinch

Recipe

1> In a pan heat ghee. Add Wheat flour. Fry till flour turns almond colour, Store this in dry container.

2> When required take 2 teaspoon of flour . Add little milk. Remove all the lumps.

3> Add remaining milk. Bring it to Boil Stirring continuously. Remove the lumps formed from time to time.

4> When thickens remove from the fire. Add jaggery according to taste. Stir again. Let it become warm.

Tip- This is also very convenient for to take for travel. Instead of jaggery one can add sugar also. You can also mix jaggery after you fry the flour. After adding jaggery stir, till all the jaggery mixes with the flour.

Recipe- First add little milk to the flour . Remove all lumps .then mix all the above ingredients to form the paste

Tip- It’s a very instant recipe. Also very nutritious, tasty. A very handy recipe when we go for outings. You can store the flour for 4-5 months and then use as required.


Sali lahya kheer

Sali lahya kheer – Sali lahya are mainly used during Laksmi pujan in Diwali. They are very easy to digest. 8 month baby can eat them raw. It is a very good finger food for the baby.

Ingredients:

1cup milk

Sali lahi flour( Sali Puffs roasted for few minutes and then grinded to flour) – 5 tea spoon.

Cardamom – a pinch

Sugar

Recipe-

Add above flour to the milk. Bring milk to boil. Add the cardamom powder.

Tip- Puff flour does not look smooth. But when it is boiled in the milk. The kheer becomes smooth and can easily given to the baby. You can store the flour for 4-5 months and then use as required.
